Britt Reid and his partner Kato have been through a lot of incarnations since their debut in The Green Hornet radio show in 1936. They've been in comic books, short films, books, movies, and perhaps most famously, the 1966 TV series with Van Williams as the Hornet and Bruce Lee as Kato.
There was even a 2011 feature film adaptation with Seth Rogen and Jay Chou that got a lukewarm reaction from critics and fans alike. So, nearly a decade after the film, it's good news to hear that Black Beauty will ride again on the silver screen.
This time the movie comes from Amasia Pictures, helmed by former Marvel Studios Chief Operating Officer Michael Helfant. Green Hornet is a passion project for Helfant, who has been trying to get the rights to the franchise for years during his work at different studios.
"We're a bunch of geeks at Amasia," Helfant said, "and are thrilled about creating something fresh and truly worthy of this legacy property."
No dates or cast have been announced for the reboot yet. We'll keep you informed as things progress.
