Mr. T and George Peppard put their issues aside. In Peppard's words, ''The past is gone.''
When co-stars don’t get along, it can change the mood both on and off the set. Celebrity disagreements are common, but do they really help anyone? Probably not.
Mr. T and George Peppard both had strong personalities, which sometimes led to clashes while filming The A-Team. In the mid-80s, reporters often tried to get inside information by asking each of them about their relationship. When the answers weren’t dramatic enough, journalists sometimes made their own guesses.
Co-star Dwight Schultz once shared that George had some feelings about Mr. T’s popularity, even though George was the former movie star. In a 1986 interview with The Leader-Post, Peppard was asked about the "so-called beef," and he responded in a mature way.
"As a celebrity, Tee went through all of the phases we are familiar with — new stardom, big money, fame. This season, Tee is working very hard, he's behaving in a most professional manner, he's most pleasant to the cast and crew, doing everything he can to make it a pleasant and profitable experience for all of us."
The journalist, in an article called "George gives life an A-Team rating," said Peppard’s answer sounded like something a public relations person would say. Hoping for a more exciting reply, they asked him again about the disagreement.
George responded: "The past is gone, you can't touch the future. I'm very pleased with the present."
It’s good that the two were able to move past their differences and work well together. Two years before the interview, in 1984, Peppard even appeared as a guest on Mr. T’s Dean Martin Celebrity Roast episode, giving a heartfelt speech about his "friend."
